THE MATRIX HAS ME
Welcome to my blog "Life and the Code Geek"! This was started as part of a class project but I received some good feedback on it so figured I would keep it going. While I consider myself technical and very comfortable working with and talking about computers, this is my first real journey into the world of blogging. I'm very interested to see where the journey take me (and us)!
The goal of my blog will be to simply communicate. I'm a very inquisitive person and ask a lot of questions every day. I'll try and share some of those questions with you and hopefully the answers will help us all learn a little something new every day. If you have any questions about the cybersecurity field and/or how to get started in it; general security questions/issues; anything at all please don't hesitate to reach out to me at CyberShamrock.Blog@gmail.com. I may even use your question as the topic of a future post (with your permission of course!)
Allow me to offer a little of an introduction to myself. Academically speaking I completed my BA in 2016 and my Master's degree in 2018. My master's degree is in Cybersecurity Technology so it was very helpful towards the end of my military career and into the beginning of my civilian career.
I'm retired from the US Air Force after serving for 23 1/2 years. I transitioned into a cybersecurity role at Seton Hall University where I have been for the past almost 5 years. In my career I've worked in all kinds of computer/cyber positions:
- Network administrator
- Microsoft Exchange administrator
- Cyber systems operator
- Air Force Basic Training Instructor (this was a 4 year assignment out of my primary career field; the AF looked favorably on people stepping away from their main job for a few years, especially if they worked an AF-level job like recruiter, basic training instructor, technical school instructor, etc.)
- Cyber Operations Superintendent
- Cyber Defence for NATO operations (in Europe it is in fact spelled with a C; this took me a while to get used to 😁 )
- Nebraska
- Alabama
- Texas
- Ohio
- Illinois
- Florida
- Germany
- Spain
- Poland
- Austria
- Luxembourg
- Norway
- Sweden
- Finland
- France
- Switzerland
- Canary Islands
- Thailand
- Kuwait
- Iraq
- Italy
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Dominican Republic
- Mexico
- Belgium
- Ireland
